Family living a dream in Bali

I have noticed Ruta's, Andrius's & Kids (familylivingadream) travel pictures on Instagram and could not stop staring at them. I was really happy when Ruta agreed to share their travel story with us.

First time they stayed there for 8 months, second time - for 2 months. They chose Bali because of:

- tropical climate. The temperature is 28-30°C during the day and 26°C during the night throughout the whole year

- great WiFi

- good local care/hospitals/medicine

- surfing - Canggu is a surfers heaven, there are always waves there

With regards to logistics, for the first time family flew with Turkish airlines and Garuda, Indonesia through Istanbul, then Jakarta, Denpasar. Second time it was with KLM through Amsterdam and Singapore.

Ruta does not recommend connecting flights through Jakarta, because when you are for the first time in Indonesia, you have to take your luggages out and get a visa. It is much more comfortable to have your luggage traveling towards the final destination. The price of the flights was around 750EUR return ticket.

Ruta and her family visited most of the biggest cities, to name a few: Canggu, Ubud, Uluwatu, Lovina, Sidemen, Candidasa, Amed, Sanur....

Uluwatu or Bukit peninsula are the best places to visit with kids. It has the most beautiful beaches, rocks. A must visit is Nyang Nyang beach or Sundays Beach club. Ruta does not recommend Lovina or Amed when traveling with kids, its too far to drive there and the views are not that nice as those a Bukit peninsula.

Ubud is for people, who are looking for yoga or spiritual practices, just choose Penestenan suburbs instead of Ubud city centre, which is full of tourists.

Sekumpul waterfall is also a must visit destination, however not that easy to reach when traveling with kids.

They travelled to cities by rented car or with a driver - the price for the whole day - 30EUR.

Ruta and her family stayed in various accommodation - apartments, guest houses, villas, hotels. The best is private villa, but it is also the most expensive.

Kids is not an obstacle to travel for this family. Of course, everything is much slower, you have to take breaks, but all manageable and possible when traveling together.

The family loves Bali a lot, the only disadvantage they see there, as well as in the whole Asia - locals leave a lot of litter after them, use a lot of plastic, which is afterwards thrown to rivers. After heavy rains, it all comes to ocean and beautiful beaches.

The best memory from this trip was when they stayed in the tree house at the Nusa Penida island and in the bubble house. This will stay in memory forever, according to Ruta.

So Bali is definitely a must visit if you are travelling with kids, especially because local people adore kids and really looks after them.
